Gosh, it’s already March. Time sure flies when you’re having fun, and so far, 2015 has been pretty damn good. I’m excelling professionally and personally, and creativity has a lot to do with my growth. One of the things I am doing more in 2015 is switching up my beauty routine. It sounds so simple, but a new lipstick, or a new mascara can do a lot for one’s self esteem. That’s why I love receiving a Birchbox every month. It fuels my creativity, and in many ways, boosts my perspective and self esteem. Every month, Birchbox has a theme, and this month’s theme is ‘Creativity’. I feel most creative when I open up I Sort of Beauty on my computer. I am able to write down anything I want and share it with you all. If you don’t already know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that is curated from your personal beauty profile. Each month, you receive 4-5 samples of deluxe size beauty products. Here are the products I received:
I have been a Birchbox subscriber for four months now. This month’s box, also my birthday month, is by far the best box I’ve received. For $10 a month, I get 4-5 samples based on my Birchbox profile. It’s helped me discover a wide range of new brands and products that I otherwise would not try. It’s a hit or miss, honestly. Here are the products I’m excited about this month:
- Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle (Retail: $21.95)
- Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Eyeshadow Palette Set (Retail: $34)
- Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner (Retail: $45)
- ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty (Retail: $24)
- Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream (Retail: $38)
So far, I’ve used my Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle, Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream, and ModelCo Party Proof Lipstick in Kitty. My favorite product is the ModelCo Lipstick. I actually took it with me to Jamaica for my birthday vacation. The light pink shimmer complimented well with my tan. I’m looking forward to trying out the other products in my box, and am already gearing up with excitement for my November box!

My hair care routine is non-existent. Don’t feel sorry for me or anything, I actually have pretty good hair, or so I’ve been told. My hair is perfectly fine being massaged and washed with Garnier Fructis, and being dried with a towel. I do not own a blow dryer, nor do I have a straightener or hair curler.
Again don’t feel bad for me, I actually have really good hair. At least that’s what my stylist, Logan Jackson, told me.
I met Logan this week at Pierre Michel Salon for a protein hair treatment. Logan is the co-founder of Healthilocks, a company that makes hair products geared towards adding protein to repair the scalp and hair without using harsh chemicals. Even though he said my hair was pretty healthy, one of the first things he noticed was how brittle and dried out my ends were. I told him I tried to box color my hair at one point (because I was “experimenting”) and I got so attached to my fake ombre and just wanted to keep it…even though it never looked quite right. It’ was a strange brown and red tint, and I’ve been rocking it for almost a year now. Instead of trimming it all off, we agreed to add a gloss to lighten up and neutralize the color of my ends. The gloss also helps to add shine. Read More…
