February: Rent The Runway x Birchbox

photo 3 (4)February has been a very busy month for me. With work, looking for a new apartment, and blogging, my Birchbox this month really made my February special. Seriously, it’s the little things – in every literal sense of the word ‘little’ ’cause it’s just samples. Still, I love my Birchbox! If you don’t already know, Birchbox is a monthly subscription box that is curated from your personal beauty profile. Each month, you receive 4-5 samples of deluxe size beauty products. This month, instead of letting Birchbox surprise me, I decided to go with the guest editor box made by Rent The Runway. Here are the products I received:

Products L-R: Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo, theBalm Red My Lips, derma e Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Glycolic Scrub, Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner, Not Soap, Radio Body Wash. Rent The Runway included also included a $30 off card to use on their site.

Fekkai Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo: Dry shampoos are such a life saver when I’m going on my third day without washing my hair. I normally wash my hair every 3-4 days so by the third day I’m already reaching for a dry shampoo. It’s a transparent spray that picks up excess oil really well, and also leaves my hair smelling fresh. To use, shake and spray at least 10 inches away from roots. Tousle and brush through with fingers. Retail: $20 (Sample size:$6.90)

theBalm Red My Lips: I was never really a fan of lip gloss but I’ve started wearing them more and more recently. I find the pink tone on this gloss attractive, but the hue is super shiny so it’s not something that I will be wearing very often. Retail: $15 (Sample Size: $4)

derma e Anti-Wrinkle Vitamin A Glycolic Scrub: This cleanser was the reason I decided to choose the guest editor box this month. It promises to slough away dead cells and deep clean pores for a younger, more radiant glow. I have been using it 3 times a week and have not seen any drastic improvements this month but I like how it makes my skin feel nice and soft. The beads are a bit too big for my liking, but otherwise, I think the formula is very gentle on my skin. Retail: $12.95 (Sample Size: $3.18)

Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner: I love color liner but am always so afraid to mix up my makeup routine. I tend to go for a more neutral and subtle look so color is always approached with caution. I like that this liner in ‘Raina’ glides easily and that the formula is smooth and rich. The deep blue color is not too showy, so I’ll probably reach for it more often than I do with my other liners. Retail: $11 (Sample Size: $4.80)

Not Soap, Radio Body Wash: After smelling and using this body soap, I have determined that everything in life should smell like blackberry and vanilla! The scent ‘The Stuff That Cupid Dips His Arrow In’ would make anyone want to be cupid’s target. Retail: $16 (Sample Size: $1.75)

Overall, I am glad I went with the guest editor box this month. It was the first time I decided to choose all of my products instead of letting Birchbox figure it out. Sample products may be little, but they make such a big difference in my sometimes ‘very boring’ routine. On top of that, I can’t wait to use my $30 off gift card from Rent The Runway!
